Standard version 1.0 Track years: 1977- 1992 Idea and Track Creator: Pablo Fernandez ======================== General Information: ======================== Hi all!. Finally I release this one from my country, after almost 2 years working. Tandil is a city, located in the southeast of the Buenos Aires State. It's a really nice town sourrounded by hills, fields and mountains. It was particular because there was one of the most known open road track from our National Stock Cars League, called "Turismo Carretera". A little detail, is that races were held on an open roads, and they were not for track positionbut for add of lap times. Like a Rally Stage, with the difference that they started in rows of 2 cars between 10 seconds each one's. Unfortunately that is no possible to recreate for GPL. Anyway, I really wanted to build this baby and show GPL community another Argentinian circuit with its own characteristics I WANT TO GIVE MY SPECIAL THANKS TO: ======================== Ginetto! and Rob Hunter!... both, for the patience and giving me the basic knowledge. Textures and 3do's from some of their beautiful creations. This work would not have been possible without your help in every aspect. Every question I asked every answer I received-..Thanks a lot guys!. Sergio Loro, the first Argentinian GPL Track Maker!!, and friend: Support, ideas, some textures and 3do's and for let me get in his GPLRepository site to share the track evolution. Greg Liebzeit for the feedback, testing, all details searching, texture correction and interest. Ezechiel47 for his nice job on A.I. and .ini files. Stefano Zampedri for the 3do cars and trucks, all of them are from his site. Glen Leugner for a tree texture from his Westwood Jim Pearson for a texture from his Dundrod and some tutorials. Jose "Pepino" Malisia and Juan Francisco Arrechea, real drivers of those golden years for our Motorsport, both from Tandil. Secrets, history, fine details of the surface and places, and in car_footage of the track Tandil Auto Club for the uninterested help, showing me the maps, pictures and history of every section. Thanks to: ======================== Papyrus for the best Sim ever.Grand Prix Legends! SRMZ GPL Repository Phil Flack, Martijn Keizer and the GPLEA for the design tools and tutorials Phil Flack for GTK Maker Anton Norup Sorensen for GracED Joachim Blum for TrkCamEdit Dave Noonan for 3DOED Christian Wohlfahrt for 123do Jonas Matton and Martin Granberg for GPLRA Alan & Stefan for the TEX Spreadsheet Guide About the track itself: ======================== Long straigths, uphills, downhills. Chicanes!,hairpins, fast bends, crossroads, and a roundabout are some things you will draw here. Pits and start line are located at "Don Bosco" Avenue, then a couple of -flat out right/left bends leads you to the "ese" ("S de Don Bosco") a tricky downhill left-right-left mix, then a long fast right turn leads to another "S" just before the intersection with route 74, a blind slow 90º right turn, this place was know as "El Gallo" (the "dory"),it's a crossroad. Now we aim to the South, then the looong 74 road straight awaits, but with up & downhills over the ground and a couple of fast left turns. After 3000 or 3500mts of full throttle we arrive to the first chicane of the track, situated to the left of the road. Narrow,in 1º gear, very slow!.We exit through a little bridge with trees besides. This place was known as "Los mimbres" ("The willow" or "wicker", don't know how to traduce it correctly). Then another long straight leads us to the second chicane, this time to the right of the track, and a little bit faster than the previous one. Then the third part, another long straight between some treerows and we move far away from civilization to open and long fields,up to the crossroad with Route 30:a little more acute than 90º right turn, this turn is known as "Scarminacci's crossroad".Now dead straight, an uphill downhill and the tricky fast left right "S" leads to the 3º chicane. To the right of the track, very slow and narrow. Then a couple of toboggans and we reach the fast right turn, "Curvon de la granja", or something like "farmer's bend", another long fast straight and we brake hard to the right crossroad ("La Porteña")that take us to the inside part of the circuit. Flat out,and brake in slightly uphill to Montecristo turn, this time to the left. 90º turn. Then a couple of up & down sections leads to the famous " Bajada de Belen",or "Belen downhill", a sudden altitude change here, followed by a right hand bend,It's easy to missjudge the braking point here as there were not so many brake markers, I suggest brake before the crest of the hill, as you're climbing, otherwise you may take off as a 737 and maybe finish your race inlaid into a treerow.I can compare this section with Flugplatz, but you arrive here faster, with more accute elevation change and slower right turn ahead. So... you're warned! Then a fast right left turns, a short straight and we brake to another 90º right turn, ("Curva de Marchini" or "House's turn").Here if you would go straight ahead instead, the road leads you after 4 Km to the center of Tandil city. Up- Down, straight full acceleration and we brake in downhill for the "Camping bend", 90º left corner. We are now in "San Gabriel zone", dangerous fast right corner with 2 apex points, the second is a little bit slower. Short straight and then we reach the right corner followed by the roundabout to the left of the path. This place is "Lake's corner" or "Lake's roundabout", beyond this roundabout, to the left of the circuit is located the Tandil Fort's Lake. So... exiting the roundabout we are again on "Don Bosco" road, but we have to manage one more tricky section before the pits... the last chicane. Is the bigger one, but it has a difficult braking approach, because it starts as you pass or even in the middle of a left fast bend and the road is narrow here, so it's easy to clip the banking and spin or miss the chicane entrance. BTW,Please... don't try to get some advantage and follow ahead the road without making the chicanes, I know why I tell you this. Make your own experience if you want.... This is know as "Autoclub" chicane or the "island", due to its shape, gently up hill climb as you enter and downhill as you exit. Finally after this exit we are on pits again, be careful if you want to pit in because there's no so much distance between chicane's exit and pit entrance.
