This track was created with a great support and help of many of my Mybroga friends, but especially of Pablo Sosa (which is "mendocino" and was especially interested in it. I want to thank Gaus and especially the Great Ginetto, whose help was absolutely essential to me. I learnt a lot during the last month and Ginetto was a great teacher :) Sergio Loro made the 3do of the Control Tower of the track. I eventually learned how to do simpler models, but not that complicated tower Lastly I want to thank Pedro Passadore, which was two times champion of the Formula 1 Argentina and winner in this track, who helped me with some details of the layout and shared with me incredible racing experiences in that track! Thanks all this GREAT GPL-er community, that is the biggest support to all of this Long-Live GPL!! Marcos. ----------------------------------------------------------------- README file Autodromo General San Martín - Mendoza MENDOZA, ARGENTINA Track Type: Race Track Length: 5.023 m Standard version: 1.0 Track year: 1974 Idea and Track Creator: Marcos Mirande ======================== General Information: ======================== During the sixties and seventies the "Formula 1 Mecánica Argentina" was among the most exciting racing categories in Argentina, allowing many drivers to race highly competitive open-wheel cars, in a golden era for the Motor Racing in the country. Names like Nasif Estéfano in the beggings to Jorge Omar del Río in the last year of this category among the National ones, made the F1 Argentina great. The most winning drivers in the National Era were "El Turco" Nasif Estéfano (1963 and 1964), "El Loco" Rubén Luis Di Palma (1974 and 1978), and Pedro Passadore (1976 and 1977), from Uruguay, which was also the single non-Argentine champion. The category was a sort of "Formula 5000", with large (North)American engines and, mostly, locally designed chassis that included developments of heroes like Oreste Berta, among others. This era in the Argentinian Motor Racing was accompanied by the creation of several new tracks, as the one published here. The Autódromo General San Martín, in Mendoza, was inaugurated in 1974 by the F1 Argentina, which also raced there once more at the end of that year, and after that in 1977. The Autódromo General San Martín was considered among the best ones in the country (Passadore, pers. comm.) Sadly, this track is abandoned since 1997 and currently the place is (ilegally) occupied with precarious houses, which renders difficult and even dangerous to visit it. This track intends to honour those great drivers and put our dreams in having a F1 Argentina mod for GPL :) WE WANT TO GIVE MY SPECIAL THANKS TO: ======================== Ginetto (Essential support and unvoluntary Psychological Assessment) All GPL Repository guys Thanks to: ======================== Papyrus for the best Sim ever - Grand Prix Legends! Please, feel free to improve them and let me know if you need some of the compilation files. EDIT2: For the server version, just unzip the files in the Mendoza folder. That version is not intended to drive, because it lacks 3d objects and most textures of the original track.
