Minneapolis Tribune Grand Prix - Donnybrooke International Speedway ver. 1.0 for GPLegends CanAm71 MOD Made by Ginetto and Remy Roesz. Track Location: Brainerd- Minnesota, USA Track Type : Race Track Track elevation: 370 m. above sea level Track Length : 4.828 km.- 3.00 mil. Track Num. Turns : 10 Track Year : 1971 Track Editor : Ginetto Historical Note: The track was named for two well known local racers, Donny Skogmo and Brooke Kinnard. It features 10 turns, 7-right and 3-left) For the most part the track is utterly flat, though each turn is slightly banked. It's main straight is a drag strip burnout area/dragstrip/shutdown area and accordingly very wide, leading into a very fast right-hander, sometimes touted as 'the fastest corner in North America'. Since the track was built in 1963 it has changed very little in its basic layout, except for the addition of a squared-off segment in turn 9, to slow motorcycles down a little. Generally it has been very smooth, with drivers from different eras reporting specific spots on the track that presented challenges at different times, which usually disappeared with resurfacing. As the track was resurfaced several times, the actual drivable part of the track would sometimes change slightly, leaving some hazardous rough areas at the apexes in many of the corners. Dropping a tire off would bring a lot of dirt onto the track surface and unsettle a car, often bottoming out or damaging suspensions, and very often causing an accident. By the early 1970's, 'gator-strips' and guardrails/armcos began to appear. The gator-strips are similar to rumble-strips, but larger and a bit more brutal, especially on a motorcycle. They were successful in keeping competitors from dropping a tire off into the grass, but a lot of drivers complain that they can be rough on a vehicle. Guardrails/armcos were added in places for safety's sake, especially in the corner exit area following turn 9 leading to the bridge, after a few drivers managed to hit the banking there. In 1972 Donnybrooke hit financial hard times and was put up for sale. 1973 saw a new owner and a name change to Brainerd International Raceway. It would change hands a few more times in following years. The gators and armcos are as they were in '71 for the infos I could get. Install Note: The installer will place in the folder a 7z file for the 32 bits horizon; to use this you must have the V2 rasterizers otherwise the track will not load. The other 7z file you will find, gives you the option to choose the jpg to keep in the folder to show the CanAm or the Formula1 version of the program cover in GEM+. Thanks to: Remy Roesz. It was his idea to revise the existing donnybrooke in the first place; I decided to help him and did a new layout and elevations but he tested every single versions and suggested always the proper changes. He also created the most part of the textures together with a brand new horizon for the track. Credits : Horizon and most of Textures: Remy Roesz.
